About Art Engaged

Our private tour of the FLAG Foundations’ exhibition of Nicholas Party is just one of the many privileges members enjoy. Art Engaged is the best membership program for people who love art, artists, collecting, conversing, and backstories. Membership is $250 for an entire year, approximately ten outings per year, for you and a friend.

About the Day

11:30 MEET AT FLAG FOUNDATION. Nicolas Party’s solo exhibition will be on view on FLAG’s 9th & 10th floors. Nicolas is creating site-specific wall murals in his signature medium of soft pastels, and there will be a selection of historic and contemporary pastels interspersed throughout the show.

12:15 WALK ACROSS THE STREET TO THE NEW PACE GALLERY

1:30 LUNCH – DUTCH TREAT AT LA CENTRAL in the Hotel Americano. WALK 2 blocks. French fare with Latin flair and flavors. The setting features sleek, modern decor and has a year-round heated patio.

Since we’re in the neighborhood, let’s visit Pace’s stunning new flagship location, with expansive indoor and outdoor galleries, and spaces dedicated to new media, performance, and public programming.  On view for our choice:

  • Yto Barrada –  a site-specific installation of paste-paper works. Barrada is recognized for her investigations of cultural phenomena and historical narratives.
  • Mary Corse – ten large-scale paintings, including a new monumental outdoor painting that is installed on the gallery’s sixth-floor outdoor terrace
  • Li Songsong – His canvases feature thick layers of paint that point to China’s many transformations but eschew narrative in order to be open to interpretation.
